Full Time Staff:



Lecia Sligh, Program Manager: Ms. Sligh has been with the Upward Bound program for six years in Brockton, MA. Ms. Sligh is passionate about helping our students get through high school and into college. She has her master's degree in Educational Studies from John Hopkins University.

 

Jessie Karner, Education Advisor: Ms. Karner has been with the Upward Bound program since the summer of 2011. Ms. Karner started as the summer program Resident Director and became the Education Advisor in September of 2012. Ms. Karner works in the school during the academic year. She has a Master of Education from Salem State University. 

 

After School Staff: 



Ashley Clarke, Math Teacher: Ms. Clarke is a math teacher at Brockton High School. She teaches the MCAS and SAT preparation courses after school.

 

Carol Livant, Reading/Comprehension Teacher: Ms. Livant is a graduate of Salve Regina University. She teaches the MCAS and SAT preparation courses after school. 

 

AJ Jimenez, Tutor Counselor: AJ is in his final semester at Massasoit Community College and has worked for the Wellesley/MIT Upward Bound Program previously. His strengths are English and History.

 

Amy Tisdell, Tutor Counselor: Amy is a junior at Bridgewater State University. She has completed the MassTransfer program and is a great resource for students. She is majoring in English. 



Summer Program Staff: 



Cassandra Barry, Latin Teacher: Ms. Barry will be participating in her first summer program in the summer of 2014. She teaches Latin at Chelsea High School during the academic year. 

 

Ashley Clarke, Math Teacher: Ms. Clarke has been teaching with the summer program since the summer of 2011. She teaches math during the academic year at Brockton High School.

 

Tim Gannon, English Teacher: Mr. Gannon has been working with the summer program in one capacity or another since 2008. Mr. Gannon teaches the English course during the summer. In the academic year he teaches at Cardinal Spellman High School.

 

Eleri Merriken, Science Teacher: Ms. Merriken has been working with the summer program since the summer of 2011. She teaches science during the academic year at Brockton High School.

 

Janae Perkins, Resident Director: Janae graduated from Brockton High School in 2009 and was a member of the program. She went to continue her education at St. John's University. She worked as a Tutor Counselor for the program in 2011 and 2012. In 2013 Janae graduated from St. John's University and began working as the Resident Director. Janae is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Psychology at Columbia University.

 

Marc Amedee, Tutor Counselor: Marc graduated from Brockton High School in 2011 and was a member of the program. He is currently pursuing a degree at Framingham State University. This will be his second summer as a tutor counselor.

 

Veranique Hudson, Tutor Counselor: Veranique graduated from Brockton High School in 2013 and was a member of the program. She is currently pursuing a degree at Howard University. This will be her first summer as a tutor counselor.

 

Wolther Joselus, Tutor Counselor: Wolther graduated from Brockton High School in 2011 and was a standout on the football field. He is currently pursuing a degree at Bridgewater State University. This will be his second summer as a tutor counselor. 

 

Michael Rodrigues, Tutor Counselor: Michael graduated from Brockton High School in 2012 and was a member of the program. He is currently pursuing a degree at UMASS Dartmouth. This will be his first summer as atutor counselor. 

 

Wilmaris Soto, Tutor Counselor: Willie graduated from Brockton High School in 2012 and was a member of the program. She is currently pursuing a degree at Salve Regina University. This will be her second summer as a tutor counselor.
