Education Advisor, Jessica Karner, Takes New Position

Jessica Karner, the Education Advisor with Upward Bound will be taking a new position beginning in November. She will be an Academic Advisor at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.  Her last day will be on November 4th with the Upward Bound Program. Over the past 4 years Jessica has worked both part time and full time with the program. She has worked as the Resident Director, the Academic Advisor, and finally the Education Advisor. Below please find a message from Ms. Karner to the students and parents!

Over the past four years I have loved my time with the Upward Bound program. I have greatly appreciated the time and effort that both students and parents have put in to the success of the program and love hearing all of the success stories of our students. I have truly enjoyed all of it. I know that this program will continue to be successful and an excellent resource to students. Under the leadership of Ms. Sligh and having the WONDERFUL students we have in the program I have no doubt that they will excel. If at any time a student would like to contact me they are completely welcome as I will miss them all terribly. Below please find my ten favorite memories of Upward Bound.

10. The Duck Tour in Summer 2012

9. Skyzone in Summer 2014

8. The Boston Food Bank and watching the students put their best foot forward in that setting every summer.

7. The months of March and April every year as seniors are getting their acceptance letters.

6. The whale watch where students all got to spend so much time together and see some of nature's beauty.

5. The after school program, and watching students improve.

4. The water fights, always the water fights.

3. Parent Day, and showing off students talents.

2. One on one conversations with any student. I have truly loved getting to know each and every one of you over the last four years.

1. The students and staff that I have had the pleasure of working with. I will never forget the interactions, the lessons shared, the people, or the fun. Thank you all so much for being a part of my life.
